Getting Started on Your Park Page: Type 4

You are going to start creating your park's web page!
Go to the Amazing Amusement Park and click on the link that says "Produce you Park's Page". Read all of the information that will need to be on your page.
To get ideas, you may go to Michigan's Adventures page or Cedar Point. DON'T spend too much time there or you won't have enough time to do a good job on your own page
You will be starting a type 4 that you will make into your park page. Start by getting all of your ideas onto "paper" (we will type in Word). You can make changes later.

Roller Coaster Article

You are the editor of a newspaper and you received an article that needs a LOT of help. You may ask your assistants (neighbors) for help, but you must do it quietly and without causing disruption to the rest of the newspaper staff (class) that are hard at work.
The first page tells you what you need to change about the article. The second page is the actual article that you are to fix up and get ready to publish.
Once you click on the link below, it will ask you if want to open or save the article. Choose "Save" and save it to your file (either on the G: or H: drive). Then go to Microsoft Word, open it up by going to teh file menu, and begin reading the directions.

Theme Park Letter

Yesterday you brainstormed ideas for a really great theme park. Today, you are going to write a letter to the mayor of the city where you want to build your park. You need to tell her about your park and convince her that it will be good for the city to let you build it.
You will type your letter using Microsoft Word. Be sure to tell the mayor lots of details so that she can make an informed decision about whether or not you should be allowed to build it. You may want to read over everyone's ideas if you are having trouble getting started.
You will save your letter to your student file. When you are in Word, you can click on "File" in the upper left corner and choose "Save As". Find the choice that has your username followed by "mcbainpdc\students' (G:) and DOUBLE click it. Give your letter a name (maybe you would call it Letter to Mayor or Theme Park Letter"). Click "Save". Check with your teacher if you are not sure because your work could be lost if you do not save correctly.
**Remember to save often! You should click the save icon (it looks like a disk) bout every five minutes while you are working.

Theme Park Brainstorming

If you were able to create your own theme park, what would it be like? What would the theme be? For example, the theme of Michigan's Adventure is Snoopy and the other Peanuts characters. What kind of rides would there be? What food and souvenirs would be sold? What other things would you have in your park?
Yesterday you typed your initials in your comment. I found out that you can click "Name/Url" instead of "Anonymous" and type your initials or first name in the Name box. Remember, do not put your last name online.
We also found that you can click "Show Original Post" to see the questions while you are typing your comments. "Show Original Post" is located just to the left of the comment box.

Fun at Amusement Parks

We will soon be starting a project about amusement parks. Please click "comment" and write about the following questions. Remember that everything you write should be in complete sentences and school appropriate. Also include your initials but not your full name in your comment.
Have you ever been to any amusement parks or fairs that have had rides? Tell more about it. What rides do you like the best? What's the worst thing about amusement parks? Do you have any funny stories?
